Representing the commercial uncrewed aviation sector in regulatory consultations to help shape practical, risk-based rules that enable innovation while maintaining the safety and integrity of New Zealand’s aviation system.

Regulatory Reform Engagement

UAVNZ actively represents the commercial uncrewed aviation sector in regulatory consultations and policy development. In response to the Civil Aviation Authority’s proposed Advanced Aviation Reform, UAVNZ worked alongside the Aviation Industry Association to provide detailed industry feedback.

The submission supports the move toward a more modern, risk-based regulatory framework while recommending practical refinements to ensure the rules reflect real-world operations, maintain aviation safety, and support the continued growth of New Zealand’s commercial drone sector.
